From 27 September 2026, a new EU rule requires online shops selling physical goods to consumers in the EU to display a standardised Legal Guarantee Notice. For Jimdo Creator shops, the Notice will be displayed automatically once the feature is available. If the Notice doesn't apply to your shop, you'll be able to turn it off in your shop settings.

What is the Legal Guarantee Notice?
The Legal Guarantee Notice is a mandatory notice that informs your customers about their statutory guarantee rights. It is not a marketing badge.
Across the EU, consumer goods have a legal guarantee of at least two years. The design, colours and wording of the Notice are standardised and can't be changed.
The Notice typically includes:
- The statutory minimum guarantee period of two years
- Information that some EU countries allow longer periods and that different rules can apply to used goods
- Examples of when a guarantee applies, such as when a product doesn't match its description or doesn't work properly
- Information about possible customer rights, such as free repair, free replacement, a price reduction or a refund
- A QR code linking to the EU's Your Europe portal
Until now, referencing statutory rights in your terms and conditions was enough. From 27 September 2026, the Notice must be actively displayed in colour and clearly visible before the customer completes their purchase.
Who does this apply to?
The requirement applies to shops selling physical goods to consumers in the EU.
It isn't limited to businesses based in the EU. It can also apply to businesses outside the EU that sell to EU customers, for example if your shop's currency is Euro or your shipping covers European countries.
There is no exemption for small businesses or solo self employed people based on revenue or team size. Selling through platforms such as Amazon, eBay or Etsy doesn't change your responsibility.
The requirement doesn't apply to pure B2B transactions.
Where will the Notice appear?
Once the feature is enabled for your shop, the Legal Guarantee Notice will be clearly visible during the purchasing process and will also be accessible through a link in your website's footer. A clearly visible link to the Legal Guarantee Notice will appear both during checkout and in your website's footer. The link takes customers to a dedicated page where the Legal Guarantee Notice is displayed as a static PDF in your website's language.
The Legal Guarantee Notice will also be included as a PDF attachment in the order confirmation E-Mail.
Do I need to enable the Notice?
No. If your shop sells physical goods to consumers in the EU, the Legal Guarantee Notice will be enabled automatically once the feature is available. You don't need to set it up yourself.
How do I turn off the Legal Guarantee Notice?
If the Legal Guarantee Notice doesn't apply to your shop, for example because you don't sell physical goods or don't sell to consumers in the EU, you can turn it off in your shop settings:
- Log in to your Jimdo account and choose the desired website.
- Click Edit Website to enter your Jimdo Creator website's edit mode.
- In the menu, go to Store > Settings > Terms, Return Policy, etc.
- Find the Legal Guarantee Notice setting and turn it off.
Important: Only turn off the Legal Guarantee Notice if you're sure the requirement doesn't apply to your shop. If you sell physical goods to consumers in the EU, EU law requires the Notice to be displayed.
What about the GARAN Label?
The GARAN label is a separate, optional EU label. It applies when a product's manufacturer offers a free guarantee of more than two years for the whole product.
Most shops don't need the GARAN label. It isn't currently available in Jimdo Creator.

Yes, if you sell physical goods to consumers in the EU. This applies regardless of your revenue or business size and regardless of where your business is legally based.
It doesn't apply if you only sell digital products or services, don't sell to consumers in the EU or only make B2B sales.
What is the GARAN label, and do I need it?
