Jimdo Bookings lets you collect payments directly through your booking form. Your clients pay at the time of booking, and the appointment is only confirmed once the payment is complete. This article explains how to set up payments, what your clients see during the booking process, and where to manage payments, refunds and payouts.

Before you start
To accept payments through Bookings, you need:
- Payments set up in Jimdo (you can do this during setup)
- An event with a price
Payments work with both event types (Open Slots and Fixed Sessions).
Setting up payments includes a short verification of you and your business. You complete it directly in Jimdo. You don't need a separate account with a payment provider.
Note: If you also use the Store, setting up payments for Bookings doesn't change the payment setup of your Store. Both run side by side.
Set up payments for an event
- Log in to your Jimdo account and select your website.
- Click Bookings in the menu on the left.
- Open an existing event or create a new one.
- Set a price for the event.
- Under payment method, choose to collect payment online.
If you haven't set up payments yet, you'll be guided through the setup after saving the event.
Note: Until your payment setup is complete, the event is saved in a draft state. You'll see a warning icon next to it in the events list and a message in the event detail view reminding you to finish the setup.
Once payments are set up, they're available right away for any other event.
Payment methods
Once payments are set up, the following payment methods are switched on by default:
- Cards
- Apple Pay
- Google Pay
- Klarna
Cards are always on and can't be switched off. You can switch the other payment methods on or off under Payments > Settings.
You can also offer PayPal. To do this, set up payments in Jimdo first and then connect your PayPal account. Your clients can then choose their preferred payment method during checkout.
Note: Payments made with PayPal only appear in your PayPal account, not under Payments in Jimdo.
Payment status indicators
Jimdo shows you when your payment setup needs attention:
- Warning icon: Your payment setup is incomplete or requires action.
- Error icon: You can no longer accept payments (for example, due to a configuration issue).
These indicators appear both in the events list and in the event detail view. If your setup is incomplete or there is an error with your payment setup, you will not be able to accept payments.
What your clients see
When a client books an event that requires payment, the booking flow adds a payment step after they enter their information:
- The client selects a time slot.
- They fill in their details.
- They're taken to a payment screen to complete the transaction.
- Once the payment goes through, the booking is confirmed.
Clients have 5 minutes to complete the payment. If the time runs out, they're taken back to the start of the booking flow to try again.
Note: If payments are unavailable due to a setup issue or error, clients will see an error screen after entering their details instead of the payment step.
Manage payments, refunds and payouts
You manage everything related to your payments under Payments in Jimdo. There you can see your payments, issue refunds and check your payouts.
Refunds
To refund a client, open the payment under Payments and issue the refund there. For payments made with PayPal, issue the refund in your PayPal account: PayPal: Issue a refund in PayPal.
Important: Bookings and refunds are not linked. Cancelling a booking does not refund the payment, and refunding a payment does not cancel the booking. If you want to do both, you need to do each step separately.
Payouts
Payouts are made automatically. Your money is paid out to your bank account three days after the payment.
Fees
A fee applies to each transaction. You can find the current fees in the pricing overview under Payments > Settings.
Currency
Prices in Bookings are shown in your account currency. You can accept payments in EUR, GBP or CHF. You can find or update your account currency under Dashboard > Payments > Settings > Financial Profile.
Important: Switching your account currency does not convert your existing prices. For example, if an event is priced at €20 and you switch to GBP, it will show as £20, not the converted equivalent. You'll need to manually adjust your prices after switching currency.
Your Financial Profile, therefore also your account currency, is shared across your store, payment links, invoices and bookings. There is no separate currency setting just for Bookings. Changing it in one place updates it everywhere.
- Existing bookings keep the currency they were originally booked in. A currency change doesn't retroactively affect past bookings.
- Changes may take a short moment to apply everywhere. If you don't see the update immediately, wait briefly and refresh.
FAQ
Can I offer PayPal?
Yes. Set up payments in Jimdo first and then connect your PayPal account. Your clients can then choose their preferred payment method during checkout.
Does cancelling a booking refund the payment?
No. Cancelling a booking and refunding a payment are separate steps. Refund the payment under Payments, or in your PayPal account for PayPal payments.
Does setting up payments for Bookings affect my Store?
No. The payment setup of your Store stays as it is. Both run side by side.
What happens if I haven't finished setting up payments?
The event will be saved, but it stays in a draft-like state. A warning icon and message will remind you to complete the setup. Your clients won't be able to book and pay for the event until your payment setup is complete.
What happens if my payment setup stops working?
An error icon will appear next to the affected event. Clients who try to book will see an error screen. Check your payment settings under Payments.
Do clients have to pay before the booking is confirmed?
Yes. The booking is only confirmed after the payment is successfully completed.
How long do clients have to complete the payment?
Clients have 5 minutes to finish the payment. If they don't complete it in time, they'll be returned to the beginning of the booking flow.
Can I offer free events alongside paid ones?
