You can insert the Search Element on your Creator website if you have a Creator Business or a higher plan. If you use a Creator Free or a Creator Pro plan, we recommend this guide on using external search functions.
Known issue: Some Creator Business plan users may find the Search Element is not working on their site. Our team is aware and actively working on a fix expected May 2026. There is currently no workaround. No action is needed on your end. Once the fix is live the search bar will work automatically.
Inserting the search bar
- Log in to your Jimdo account and choose the desired website
- Click Edit to enter your Jimdo Creator website’s edit mode
- Go to the page that you want to insert the search bar on. The sidebar is an ideal place for this
- Click on Add Element > More Elements and Add-ons and insert the Search Element
Note: The search bar has a limit of 500 pages. If your website has 500 or more pages, the search bar will not be available. In this case, we recommend using an external search bar.
Indexation and new content
The search bar indexes the content of your Creator website as soon as you add the element. If you update your website later, the changes are indexed automatically.
If the changes do not appear, make sure to clear the cache and or cookies of your browser.
Personalizing the search function
You can customize the search for your website by:
- Determining the width and position of the search bar
- Modifying the placeholder text in the search bar
- Choosing which sections of your website should be searched
