How do I use the Jimdo search feature?

You can insert the Search Element on your Creator website if you have a Business or a higher plan. If you use a Free or a Pro plan, we recommend this guide on using external search functions.

Inserting the search bar

1. Log in to your Jimdo account and choose the desired website
2. Click Edit to enter your Jimdo Creator website’s edit mode
3. Go to the page that you want to insert the search bar on—the sidebar would be an ideal place for this
4. Click on Add Element > More Elements and Add-ons and insert the Search Element

Note: Our search bar has a limit of 500 pages. If a website has 500 or more pages, the search bar won't be accessible as described above. In this case, we recommend using an external search bar. 

Indexation and new content

The search bar will index the content of your Creator website as soon as you’ve added the element. If you modify your website later on, the changes will be automatically indexed for you.

If the changes don't appear, make sure to clear the cache and/or cookies of your browser. 

Personalizing the search function

You can customize the search for your website by:

• Determining the width and position of the search bar
• Modifying the placeholder text in the search bar
• Choosing the sections of your website that should be searched
