You’ll always get the AuthCode for your domain from your current domain host, that your domain is registered with. That would be either Jimdo or another provider.
Domain registered at Jimdo
If your domain is registered at Jimdo, you’ll get the AuthCode from us. Here’s how to do it:
- Log in to your Jimdo account and choose the desired website
- Click Edit to enter your Jimdo Creator website’s edit mode
- Go to Menu > Domains & Emails > Domains
- Click on your domain
- Scroll down to the new area, and click on Request Transfer code
Shortly after, you'll receive an email containing the AuthCode for your domain at the AdminC email address. Remember, this is the email address you provided during the domain registration.
When transferring your domain to your new host, please ensure that you type all letters, numbers, and special characters exactly as they appear in the AuthCode. Also, keep in mind that the the period of time the AuthCode remains valid can vary depending on your domain extension.
Didn’t receive the AuthCode?
The AuthCode will always be created if you follow the steps mentioned above. If you can't find the email containing your domain's AuthCode, consider the following:
- Check your spam/junk folder to find the email with your AuthCode. If you're still unable to find the email, make sure you’re consulting the correct AdminC inbox and retry the steps above
- Update your AdminC address by contacting our support team if the AuthCode was sent to an outdated email address or if you would like to receive it in a different email account
Emails are not migrated
Your email accounts will not be carried over with your domain transfer. You will need to set them up again with your new provider.
Please be aware that you will lose access to your old messages and contacts once the transfer begins. Therefore, we strongly recommend backing up any important emails and data to your local computer before initiating the transfer.
Domain registered with another provider
In this case, you’ll get the AuthCode from your external provider. Get in touch with their support team and ask them for the AuthCode for your domain. Your provider will also tell you what the next steps are.
