If we have informed you by email that your Jimdo mailbox will be deleted, you can save your emails and contacts on your computer before the deletion date. Once your mailbox has been deleted, its content can no longer be restored.
Before you start
Important: Save your emails and contacts before the date stated in our email. After that date, you can no longer log in to your mailbox.
To save your emails and contacts, you need:
- The email address and password of your mailbox
- A computer with an email program installed, such as Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird or Apple Mail
- Enough free storage space on your computer for all the emails in your mailbox
To check that your login details work, log in to your webmail.
Save your emails on your computer
To save all your emails, including the ones in folders you created yourself, add your mailbox to an email program on your computer using IMAP. The email program downloads your emails, and you can then create a backup file from them.
- Open your email program and add a new email account.
- Select IMAP as the account type. Enter your email address, your password and the server details below.
- Wait until all emails and folders have been downloaded. Depending on the size of your mailbox, this can take some time.
- Use the export or backup function of your email program to create a copy of your emails.
- Save the backup file in a safe place on your computer or on an external storage device.
Note: Adding your mailbox to an email program is not enough on its own. After your mailbox has been deleted, emails that were only synchronized via IMAP may no longer be available in your email program. Make sure you create a separate backup file as described in step 4.
Email server details
Use these server details when you add your mailbox to your email program:
| Protocol (using SSL) | Server | Port |
|---|---|---|
| IMAP (incoming) | secure.emailsrvr.com |
993 |
| SMTP (outgoing) | secure.emailsrvr.com |
465, 587 or 8025 |

- Log in to your webmail and open Contacts.
- Click Import / Export Contacts in the toolbar.
- Under Export Contacts, select the Thunderbird option.
- Click Export.
- Save the file on your computer.
You can import this file into most email programs and contact apps later.
