When your mailbox is upgraded to JimdoMail, your contacts aren't transferred to the new webmail automatically. To keep them, export your contacts from your current webmail before the upgrade and import them into the new JimdoMail webmail afterwards.
The exported file also works as a backup of your contacts.
In this article:
Step 1: Export your contacts before the upgrade
Export your contacts while you can still log in to your current webmail, before your mailbox is upgraded.
- Log in to your current webmail and open Contacts.
- Click Import / Export Contacts in the toolbar.
- Under Export Contacts, select the Thunderbird option.
- Click Export.
- Save the file on your computer.
Keep this file in a safe place, at least until you've imported it and checked that all your contacts are available in the new webmail.
Step 2: Import your contacts into the new JimdoMail webmail
After your mailbox has been upgraded, you can import the exported file into the new webmail. Your contacts are added to an address book of your choice. You can use an existing address book or create a new one before you start the import.
- Log in to the new JimdoMail webmail at inbox.jimdo.com and open Contacts.
- In the menu on the left, click Import contacts.
- In the window that opens, select Add contacts to an existing address book.
- Choose the address book you want to add your contacts to.
- Select the exported contacts file from your computer.
- Click Import Contacts.
Once the import is complete, your contacts appear in the address book you selected.
Tip: You can export your contacts from the new webmail at any time using the address book menu, for example to create a new backup.
