In this article, you will learn how to update your VAT ID and why it is important that your contract holder information matches your registered VAT details. Keeping this information accurate ensures your VAT ID remains valid and allows you to benefit from tax exemption where applicable.
Where do I put my VAT ID?
You can update your VAT ID in your Creator website settings.
Open the menu and click on Subscription at the very bottom. Scroll to the section Subscription owner and invoice recipient and click on:
Do you want to update your account information in your Jimdo contract? You can do that here
Enter your VAT ID and make sure all related contract details are correct.
Note: To qualify for tax exemption, your VAT information must match official records exactly. The following details must match the records of your VAT ID registration:
- VAT ID: must be a valid and active EU VAT identification number
- Company name: must match the registered trade name
- City: must match the registered city
- Postal code: must match the registered postal code
If any of these details do not match, your VAT ID may not be accepted.
How is my VAT ID verified?
Before your contract is renewed, Jimdo automatically checks whether your VAT ID is still valid.
This verification is done using the European VIES service.
If your VAT ID is no longer valid or does not match the registered information, it will be removed automatically.
Note: If your VAT ID fails verification, you will receive an automatic notification via E-Mail.
In this case, you should review and update your VAT ID and ensure all contract holder details match the official registration data.
Where else should I update my VAT ID?
Your VAT ID should also be visible on your website.
In most cases, it is included in your imprint. Make sure the VAT ID shown there matches the one in your account.
