When you pay for a Jimdo plan, an add-on or an open invoice with a new payment method, your bank, PayPal or Apple Pay may first ask you to confirm a payment of 0.00 or another small amount. This step only verifies your payment method. After you confirm it, the actual payment follows automatically.
Why you see 0.00 or a small amount
Before a new payment method can be used for the first time, your bank or payment provider checks that it is valid and that it belongs to you. To do this, it shows you a confirmation request, for example in your banking app, on the PayPal page or in Apple Pay.
Depending on your bank and payment method, this request can show:
- 0.00 in your currency, for example €0.00
- 0.01 if you pay with iDEAL
- another small amount, such as 0.02
- no amount at all
In every case, this is only the verification of your payment method, not the payment for your order or invoice. Simply confirm the request as usual.
What happens after you confirm
Once you've confirmed the verification, your payment method is saved and the full amount of your order or invoice is charged automatically. You don't need to start the payment again.
Was I charged twice?
No. Your bank statement or payment app may show two entries: one for the verification (0.00 or a small amount) and one for the actual payment. Only the actual payment is the amount you pay for your order or invoice.
If your bank shows a small amount such as 0.01 or 0.02 for the verification, this amount is not part of your payment. It's refunded or released again, which can take a few days depending on your bank.
Something still doesn't look right?
If the payment isn't completed after you've confirmed the verification, or if you see an amount that doesn't match your invoice, please contact our support team. We'll be happy to check it for you.
