Starting in August 2024, all websites that previously used a .jimdo.com subdomain have been migrated to a new .jimdoweb.com subdomain.
This change helps us further improve our service. Our 99.9% uptime remains unchanged, and by integrating with a separate network, we have enhanced the speed and performance of websites hosted on Jimdo.
Accessibility: Old subdomains will be removed
Previously, automatic 301 redirects were in place for old .jimdo.com subdomains to direct traffic to the new .jimdoweb.com address. These redirects will now be removed.
On April 21, 2025, the old .jimdo.com address will be permanently removed. From this date, redirects will no longer be active, and the corresponding websites will only be accessible via the new .jimdoweb.com address.
Update outdated links
If you have external links or bookmarks pointing to your old .jimdo.com address, you must update them to ensure they continue to work.
Since your website will no longer be accessible via the old .jimdo.com address, it is essential to update all links to your new .jimdoweb.com address.
What you should do:
- Check and update all links to your website that you have shared on social media, emails, or other websites.
- Adjust internal links if you have linked to other subpages within your website.
- Update your printed materials if they still contain the old .jimdo.com address.
If there are links you cannot update yourself (e.g., on external websites that you do not control), these may lead to an error once the redirects are removed. In such cases, we recommend contacting the website owner to request an update.
Use your own domain
If you already use a custom domain for your website or have connected an external domain to Jimdo, nothing will change for you.
However, if you have only been using the automatically assigned Jimdo subdomain, it may be a good time to register your own domain. A domain with an ending like “.com” or “.de” increases trust and also allows you to create custom email addresses.
How to register your own domain:
- To use a custom domain, you need a Premium Plan for your Creator website.
- You can then register a domain with Jimdo, or transfer an existing external domain to Jimdo here or redirect it.
